Protecting your Professional Legacy
One lawsuit shouldn’t be the final chapter of your company. We help you build a defense strategy that keeps your doors open and your reputation intact.
You Can’t Control Everything. You Can Cover Anything.
In the business world, risk is the antagonist. A customer slips on a wet floor at a bar in Ybor. A data breach exposes your client list as a wedding vendor in St. Pete. A hurricane shuts down your office for three weeks.
The General Liability (GL) policy is your first line of defense against third-party lawsuits.
The Business Owners Policy (BOP) is your all-in-one toolkit, bundling liability with property protection to secure your equipment, inventory, and income.
At Novel Insurance, we don't just sell you a certificate to show your landlord. We design a survival plan.
Our Coverage Menu
-
The Shield. This is the baseline defense. It protects you if you cause bodily injury or property damage to a third party.
Slip & Fall: If a client gets hurt at your office or shop.
Operations: If you accidentally damage a customer's home while working there.
Advertising Injury: Protection against claims of libel, slander, or copyright infringement.
-
The Bundle. A cost-effective package that combines General Liability with Commercial Property. It’s the "Home & Auto Bundle" of the business world.
Business Personal Property: Covers your computers, desks, inventory, and furniture.
Business Interruption: Replaces your lost income if a fire or covered disaster forces you to close temporarily.
-
The Digital Defense. If you swipe a credit card or store client emails, you are a target. Standard liability policies exclude data breaches.
We cover: Forensic costs (hiring IT experts to fix the breach), legal fees, and the cost of notifying your customers as required by Florida law.
-
The HR Department. You don't have to be a big corporation to get sued by an employee.
Protection against: Claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, or wage disputes.
Why it matters: These are often the most expensive lawsuits a small business faces, even if you did nothing wrong.
How We Review Your Policy
Commercial policies are filled with exclusions. We read the fine print to ensure your business is actually protected:
Co-Insurance Clauses: Many policies penalize you if you undervalue your property. We help you calculate the correct "Replacement Cost" so you don't get hit with a surprise penalty during a claim.
The "Completed Operations" Trap: For contractors, does your liability stop the day you leave the job site? We ensure you are covered for damage that happens after the project is finished.
Additional Insureds: Do your vendors or landlords require their name on your policy? We set up your policy to make issuing certificates (COIs) fast and free.

-
A: General Liability covers physical accidents (slips, falls, broken windows). Professional Liability (E&O) covers financial mistakes (bad advice, negligence, missed deadlines). If you give advice for a living (consultants, accountants, realtors), you usually need both.
-
A: It covers lawsuits against them, but it does not cover their injuries if they get hurt on the job. For that, you need a separate Workers' Compensation policy, which is mandatory in Florida for most businesses with 4+ employees (or 1+ in construction).
-
A: Yes. Your standard Homeowners policy almost never covers business liabilities. If a client trips over your rug during a meeting, or if your business laptop is stolen, a personal policy will likely deny the claim. A small "Home-Based Business" BOP is very affordable.
-
A: Once you are a client, we can typically issue standard Certificates within hours—often minutes. We know that in the contracting world, if you can't show proof of insurance, you don't get paid.
-
A: It depends. Standard Business Interruption usually kicks in only if there is physical damage to your property (like a roof blowing off). It typically does not cover you just because the power went out or the city ordered an evacuation. We can review specifically how your carrier handles windstorms.
