Also called Medigap. You pay a higher monthly premium, but you have almost zero costs when you see a doctor.
The Network: None. You can see any doctor in the USA who accepts Medicare. No referrals needed.
The Cost: Predictable. You pay your premium, and the plan pays the bills.
Best For: Snowbirds who travel, and those who want total freedom of choice.
Note: A Medicare Part D Plan (Prescription Drug Coverage) needs to be purchased in addition to a Medicare Supplement. Medicare Supplement Plans on their own to not cover Part D benefits.

Also called Part C. You often pay a $0 monthly premium, but you pay "copays" when you receive care.
The Network: Local HMOs and PPOs. You usually need to stay within the network (e.g., BayCare or AdventHealth) to get the best price.
The Extras: Often includes Dental, Vision, Hearing, and Gym memberships (which Original Medicare does not cover).
Best For: Healthy seniors who want all-in-one coverage and extra perks.
Bundled Prescription Drug Coverage: Most Medicare Advantage plans bundle your Prescription Drug Coverage (MAPD)

The Medicine Cabinet. Original Medicare does not cover pharmacy prescriptions. You must buy a separate Part D plan.
Warning: If you don't sign up for this when you are first eligible, the government charges you a "Late Enrollment Penalty" for the rest of your life.

A: Maybe not. If your employer has more than 20 employees and your health insurance is "creditable," you can likely delay Medicare Part B (and the premium) until you retire. We can review your work benefits to see if delaying saves you money.

A: Part A (Hospital) is usually free if you worked 10 years. Part B (Medical) has a monthly premium (set by the government each year) that comes out of your Social Security check. Even with a "$0 Premium" Advantage plan, you still pay the government for Part B.

A: Yes, but only at specific times. The Annual Election Period (AEP) runs from October 15 to December 7 every year. This is when you can change your Advantage or Drug plan for the coming year.

A: No. Medicare only covers "skilled nursing" (rehab) for a short time after a hospital stay. It does not cover long-term custodial care. For that, you need Long-Term Care Insurance.

A: If you are a high earner (based on your tax return from 2 years ago), the government charges you an extra surcharge on your Part B and Part D premiums. We can help you appeal this if your income has dropped recently (due to retirement).

A: Original Medicare does NOT cover dental or vision. Medicare Advantage plans often DO include these benefits. If you choose a Supplement (Medigap), you will need to buy a separate Dental/Vision policy.
